Behind the Scenes: Creating Music Magic at Sawmill Studio with Soundfactory & John Cornfield

To say today was a bit of an adventure would be an understatement.

The day kicked off in traditional British fashion... with rain and a maccies breakfast and some Lidl pastries, we are big growing lads so we need sustenance. After finishing off breakfast we were on our way to Fowey, Cornwall.

Alas, we were all very excited and lucky to be invited by the team over at Sound Factory SW who over the last year or so have been recording live sessions for acts all across the country including The Lottery Winners, Land of the Giants, The Horizons and more!

For those that don't know, Sawmills Studio is a very unique place and the only way to get there is by boat!

After arriving at Fowey, we got on the boat and

our Captain Liam told us a bit about the area

and the history of the studio!

The Studio was established in 1974 and was one of the first residential recording facilities in the UK. Over the years the studio has hosted a number of famous musicians including:

Robert Plant, Oasis, The Kooks, Jessie J, The Verve, Supergrass and now... The Busketeers!

Once we docked, we had a little walk up to the studio and Matt almost fell over, but he isn't good wth his legs. Ken thought he forgot the Cajon (our box drum - yes thats the official name of it!) but it was a false alarm as the Captain put it in the hold for safe keeping! Phew.

We finally arrived and this secluded journey was worth the wait. It all felt very fast but we got in the studio straight away, said a quick hello to John Cornfield and we got setup.

The Soundfactory team were there and had been staying the whole weekend (lucky boys), recording loads of artists and creating some amazing content for local bands! We couldn't thank them and John enough.

Soundchecks started and we all felt very calm, although nervous, to record with the lads and John! Cameras everywhere, lights all around, amps buzzing, yet no make-up or hairdresser, Ken was a bit sad about this. Olly was in awe of all the analog gear, whilst Luke was eager to adventure outside, but we had a job to do first.

Recording got underway and we got 3 live videos which will be coming out within a few months! This includes, Steam, Ghost In The Wild and Arrows!

After recording, we had to wait for the boat back which would be around 5:30pm so because we finished recording early, we headed to the house to have a look around and we found some pics of who had been there previously...

Honestly, the day went too quickly but we had such a great time with the team and we can't wait to share the sessions with you!

Make sure you got check out Soundfactory & Sawmills Studio!

See you soon,

The Busketeers
